Spreadpainter is a 2D grid-based battling game where your movement is limited by the tiles you paint with your attacks. Tactical decisions need to be made about landing attacks on enemies or expanding your movement area.
One step from Eden does real-time grid-based combat really well, if we decide to go deck-based combat it also does that. We think the way it highlights attacks and the speed is also nice to be inspired by, although I think we should be a bit slower.
Chicory fully leans into the painting aspect, it’s very satisfying in the way that the world becomes very unique to how you gave it color.
Crypt of the Necrodancer has a very snappy movement, mostly because it’s based on a rhythm. The monsters also have very predictable health ranges (1-6) we want to give health based on how many tiles a monster is in size.
Dreamsweeper is not out yet but it also does grid-based combat in a very interesting way on top of a minesweeper map
The game will consist of multiple combat encounters, with increasing difficulty. After each round of combat, there will be a possibility to upgrade your spells or weapon ******which will make them more potent, there is a multitude of different spells and attacks each with their unique style so choose wisely!
